A friend and I snuck out of our barracks and ran about two miles to his barracks so that I could say hi. I had already graduated and was in service blues, for his level of boot camp that gave the appearance of a regular Navy and his fellow boots called "Attention On Deck" when we walked through the door. When I asked to see John they hustled off to get him, I had my back to him when he got there, not knowing who I was, he sounded off "Seaman Recruit Colclasure Reporting, Sir" we had a good laugh when I turned around and he saw who it was.
It was great to see him and worth the risk of getting caught out of barracks. I worked with Al in a very stressful environment and recall how he quickly befriended me and made me feel part of the team. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept my morale up when I was feeling down. Thank you Al. We thank God for the legacy of love and faith Louise shared. Joy in Christ What genuine interest she showed others in her eyes, warmth in her smile, and such engaging dimples! Jim Turpin and family.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Our sympathy to all.
Frank Strainis. We used to live across the street from Al until last summer when we moved. Al was a very nice neighbor. Friendly and happy guy. Our interactions were very pleasant. He was always nice to my very active boys, he would talk to them and laugh. He would walk around the street and I would see him talking to all the neighbors, super nice guy.
My condolences to the family. May you rest easy Al. I am sorry for your loss. He was a wonder full person to work with. He was so intelligent with the designs that he made for our customers. He will be missed deeply by many. Al was a special person and we were all blessed to have had hi with us to live with. Dave Dyke.
